Following a highly successful teambuilding workshop with the executive team, where they “tried on” the Appreciative Inquiry approach, we were invited to support a team of 20 people from across the enterprise to develop strategic recommendations for presentation to senior management. We designed and facilitated two key planning workshops and helped the team frame the process by which they conducted their work in between over a couple of months, including interviews with customers and other stakeholders. We also coached the team in how to engage the executives in an appreciative manner versus the traditional “sell” presentation to create energy and buy-in. A a follow-on to these sessions a strategy summit was planned for the purpose of bringing together a variety of content, and perspective and to decide on critical priorities for the following year.
