SuMo Workshops

We regularly conduct public workshops and customized client workshops in Appreciative Inquiry - an increasingly popular strength-based approach to change. Scheduled workshop dates are listed in the column to the right.

Appreciative Inquiry Foundations Workshop

We conduct this 4-day workshop in Toronto in the spring and fall of each year. The workshop is designed for those who want to get a solid grounding in the theory, concepts, and practice of Appreciative Inquiry. Our colleague and mentor Jane Magruder Watkins and her husband Ralph Kelly, of Appreciative Inquiry Unlimited partner with us to make these workshops a powerful and practical learning experience.

AI Practitioner Clinic

We describe this one-day workshop as a “clinic” to suggest both a deepening of learning around participant identified topics and because the agenda is built around participant cases questions – rather than a predefined set of concepts, such as are presented in a more traditional workshop setting. A key element of this workshop is the opportunity to provide and receive consultation on each other’s cases in progress. Pre-requisite: strong AI foundation and some application experience.

Customized Appreciative Inquiry Workshops for Clients

We are often asked to design and conduct AI workshops to help clients build capacity for the Appreciative Inquiry approach in their organizations. Please contact us to discuss your needs.

Appreciative Inquiry Presentations and Keynotes

We are called upon regularly to design and facilitate breakout sessions and provide keynote presentations on the topic of Appreciative Inquiry at conferences and association learning events. Some examples include IABC Leadership Development Weekend (2005), HRPAO Conference (2003) and Melcrum Communications Summit (2005). Please contact us to discuss your needs.

STRATEGIC IMPACT: learning to SOAR™

Dr. Jacqueline Stavros, Associate Professor at Lawrence Technological University College of Management will join us to conduct a two-day workshop on the application of SOAR (Strengths, Opportunities, Aspirations, Results) in strategic planning. This workshop will appeal to Ai practitioners as well as anyone involved in the process of strategic planning in their organization. Jackie has authored several articles, and has co-authored two books: The First Appreciative Inquiry Handbook: For Leaders of Change and Dynamic Relationships: unleashing the power of Appreciative Inquiry in daily living.

Appreciative Coaching

This two-day workshop is an experiential application of Appreciative Inquiry to coaching and is targeted specifically to coaching practitioners who have a desire to deepen their coaching practice by incorporating AI principles.

Engaging Employees through Appreciative Inquiry

Much has been written in recent years about the "lack of employee engagement". Organizations study and publish reports that tell us that "employees are disengaged" and that the resulting loss of productivity is costing organizations millions of dollars annually. This one-day workshop looks at this increasingly high priority issue through the lens of Appreciative Inquiry. The workshop provides an introduction to the theory and concepts of Appreciative Inquiry and engages participants in an inquiry experience focused on the topic of employee engagement. It is particularly relevant for mid to senior level communications and HR professionals, as well as business owners.
